To sense the light intensity we use two LDR sensors that is light dependent resistors interfaced to the ADC input of the microcontroller. It is possible to vary the intensity of light and speed of fan by using a number of types of dimmers. Modern dimmers are built from silicon controlled rectifier instead of variable resistor, because they have higher efficiency. Since silicon controlled rectifier switches between a low resistance “ON” state and a high resistance “OFF” state, it dissipates very little power compared with the controlled load. The main objectives of the Smart Home Automation System are to provide a low-cost solution to minimize the energy consumption, provide support and comfort, and make life easier. The proposed system does not require a dedicated server PC with respect to similar systems and offers a novel communicat ion protocol to monitor and control the home environment with more than just the switching functionality. We can replace Bluetooth by GSM modem so that we can achieve device controlling by sending SMS using GSM modem.
